M.C. Das College, Sonai, was established in the year 1972 at Cachar district of Assam as a co-educational institution. The affiliated college, sprawling over 4.5 acres, has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. With an enrolment of 597 students and a faculty strength of 18, it offers three undergraduate courses, BA, B.Com, and B.Sc. M.C. Das College aspires to quality education among the students of the Barak Valley region from all walks of life.

The large infrastructure with facilities for augmenting the learning process and, in general, for the development of the students has been provided at this institution. Important for the academic resources constituting the library linkages with the INFLIBNET Centre, Ahmedabad, the Indian Library Association, and the British Council Library, Kolkata, have been established. Laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, and Zoology are well-equipped for the science students.
