Women Teachers Training College Maa Durga Shikshan Sansthan, which was set up in the year 2005 is one of the leading and well knowneducational institution of Jaisalmer in Rajasthan. This is an all female college aimed to produce future educators with specialised focuses on teacher education. Affiliated to National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), full fledged college follow stringent Education qualification norms. The college take a total of 268 students and faculty of 15; it offers a selective learning atmosphere to the residents who wish to become teachers. Currently, the institute provides two full time degree programmes in education and elementary education for the enhancement of qualified educators throughout the country.
Maa Durga Shikshan Sansthan Women Teachers Training College has well equipped learning resource facilities to complement the students’ college experience. Education: A library is equipped with over 6000 books and other significant teaching pedagogy method and reference books and encyclopedias, journals for both B.ED and D.EL.ED courses. The campus has functional laboratories for biology, physics, and chemistry where instructional process includes practical and demonstration. Besides these, facility for extracurricular activities are available including a large 400 sitting capacity auditorium for cultural shows, debates and orientations. This college also concerns about physical health with having some indoor games and sports equipment in a games room and a basketball Court for the exercises lovers.
The Maa Durga Shikshan Sansthan Women Teachers Training College provides two integrated programmes in teacher education platform. The two main courses offered by the institute include the four-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) programme for one hundred students and the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) programme which has a carrying capacity of fifty students. They are both day-division, two-year courses whose aim is to prepare students for professional teaching practice. These specialised programmes are evident in the college as the institution and its intent on producing well-trained educators ready to practice in this field.
At Maa Durga Shikshan Sansthan Women Teachers Training College, admission is done based on the probability obtained in entrance exams or any other Examination conducted. On admissions for the B.Ed course it follows the admission policies as set by the state government, U.T Administration and the university to which the college is affiliated to. Likewise, the D.El.Ed. admission retains the norms set by the state government while admitting students.
The colleges determined efforts in providing quality education is complemented by its infrastructureosit which include; A girl’shostel with the capacity of accommodating about 100 students especially out station students to enable them study in a secure environment.
