Maharaja Surajmal Institute, was started in 1972, it is one of the recognised institutions in the field of education located in Janak Puri new Delhi. This affiliated college located in an 8-acre campus, provides numerous and vast undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The institute has declared itself an accredited institution from NAAC and approved by AICTE, NCTE and BCI making DM Changodar a centre of excellence in higher learning. The institute has total number of students 2250 and faculties of 93. Interestingly, the institute currently boasts of 7 programme and 12 courses cutting across specialisations in management, computer application, commerce and law.

The institute is proud to have Ultra modern equipment put in place to facilitate the learning process of the students. The college has one of the best libraries in the country having 27,354 volumes and seventy-two national journals, periodicals, magazines, seventy-one national newspapers, and seventeen international newspapers. The students also have an opportunity to access 4,368 online journals. The campus has nine computer labs most of which are equipped with between 25 and 30 systems that are connected through a LAN. for educational and co-curricular activities, there is a centrally air-conditioned auditorium with a seating capacity of 500 for all indoor programs with modern amenity of audio-visual aids. Hedl for sports freak – There is a large play area available outside where one can play outdoor games especially cricket and football etc. There is also separate facility for indoor games like table tennis, chess, carrom etc. The institute also has a medical room and with facilities of first-aid and a Super Specialty hospital is also located within 50 meters from the campus.

The courses in Maharaja Surajmal Institute are vast to cover each and every field of interested student. It offers 12 full time courses in different fields of study as follows: Among them some of the popular courses are BBA, BCA, B.Com (Hons), MBA, B.Ed, integrated law courses – BA LLB and BBA LLB. For all courses the approved intake is 2250 students. Lack of specific graduation data for the latest year does not allow presenting it as the institute that provides its graduates with everything they need for a successful start in the chosen career field; however, it is clear that the focus on quality education and relevance of curricula can become the major driving forces to achieve the goal for the institute.

The admission at Maharaja Surajmal Institute is basically, merit based on the marks secured in the qualifying examinations/entrance examination. For programmes in BBA and BCA the institute accepts Indraprastha University Common Entrance Test (IPU CET) scores. This B.Ed programme follows a selection process according to the policy of State Government/U.T. Administration and the University. 

Dates of admission normally occur in reference with the Delhi University dates, the option and major admission occur in June and August for the undergraduate. Scholarships are given to deserving students and out of the admitted students, 312 students have been refunded in the academic year 2022.
