In 1979, under the aforesaid university, Maharana Pratap Government Post Graduate College, Hardoi, was established. It is one of the biggest educational institutions in Uttar Pradesh, India. This affiliated college lies on a sprawling area of 11.82 acres and serves an academic community since more than four decades. Accredited by NAAC and approved by the National Council for Teacher Education, the college has built a wide smorgasbord of 10 courses across 5 degree programs. Having a total enrolment of 1,417 students and a faculty strength of 35 ensures that the institution enjoys a very favorable student-faculty ratio, which in turn provides proper attention to all students.

Maharana Pratap Government Post Graduate College envisions an admission policy free of obscurantism, transparent to all and just for one and all. Admissions to undergraduate courses are based directly upon performance of the candidate at the plus two stage. Admissions in many postgraduate courses including M.Sc Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, and Mathematics are routed through an entrance examination to be conducted by CSJM University, Kanpur. The entrance is held in June and the advertisement notice for entrance is also issued in national and local dailies in the month of March every year. The B.Ed course is through a state-level entrance examination.
