Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital has been named after the father of the nation “Mahatma Gandhi” and is a well-known medical college that started operating in 1961 in Jamshedpur of Jharkhand state. Established and affiliated college, recognised by, the National Medical Commission (NMC) consist of extensive courses relating to medical field for the students willing to shape their career in healthcare. Now concerning its student enrolment, the capacity of MGMMCH is 430 total student intake, while the faculty is composed of 149 teaching personnel. The college has reached the development level of 18 courses within the four existing degree programmes; General Medicine, Surgery, Paediatric Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital has the following facilities to help its student to grow as a scholar and a person: The college library is perhaps one of the best as has been certified by the Medical Council of India – it stocks more than 6,300 text/reference books, and subscribes more than 75 national /International medical journals. As for hostels, there are well furnished boys and girls hostels consisting of modern amenities and facilities for indoor and outdoor sports. The college also owns a modern built auditorium ‘Ahsish Hall’ with a seating capacity of 300 student and used for organising Cultural/Science programmes.

The major course of the college is the MBBS course which has an intake capacity of 100 students, other courses includes variety of postgraduate courses such as MD and MS courses which provide specialised academic and training programme in different medical fields. The college also offers Diploma courses which include Child Health, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Radiotherapy. All the courses are day courses so as to give the students intense and comprehensive knowledge in medical education. Altogether, MGMMCH has eighteen provisions of course with total student intake of 430 for all the various programmes.
Unlike other private medical colleges, the MGMMCH gets its major intake through competition in national level entrance tests. For the MBBS programme, the student needs to clear the NEET conducted by the NBE which is the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. As with other level of education, admissions to postgraduate level are done based on a test known as the NEET-PG. These standardised tests are taken to assure that the college uses a fairest and most competitive approach to selection. Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital (MGMMCH), Jamshedpur, is a renowned medical college. The college provides various undergraduate and postgraduate medical courses. The admissions of MGMMCH usually coincide with the national medical entrance examination dates. Degree wise Admission Process
MBBS: The college has 100 seats for the MBBS course. Admission to the course depends on the score of the candidate in NEET. The selection process includes NEET qualification, counselling process, and document verification at MGMMCH if they are allotted a seat.
MD/MS Programs: MGMMCH provides numerous MD and MS programs such as General Medicine (6 seats), General Surgery (5 seats), Pathology (4 seats), Paediatrics (4 seats), Otorhinolaryngology (3 seats), Ophthalmology (3 seats), Orthopaedics (3 seats), Obstetrics and Gynaecology (3 seats), and Anaesthesiology (2 seats). Admissions in these programs are done through NEET PG, and then the counselling and allotment of seats are done.
Diploma Courses: The college also provides diploma courses in Radiotherapy, Radio Diagnosis, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Child Health, with 2 seats in each course. Admission to these courses is also made on the basis of NEET PG scores.
Other Specializations: MD courses in Physiology (2 seats), Pharmacology (1 seat), and Dermatology Venerology and Leprosy (1 seat) are offered by MGMMCH, along with MS in Anatomy (2 seats). The selection for these courses is done through the same NEET PG-based process.
