Mahila Institute of Technology Meerut, also known as MIT Meerut, is a women’s only technical institution which was started in 2008 in Sardhana, Uttar Pradesh. This affiliated college is recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) hence the quality teacher education programmes. Located at a small plot of 0.617 acre of land, the institute has the current strength of 155 students where all of them are female indicating its focus on women’s education. Being the strength of faculty 8 members, it is important to mention the reasonable student to teacher ratio. The college offers one course which is B.Ed course for teacher education only. The institute has paved other facilities which are aimed to improve the learning environment of the students.
The library is central to our evangelisation efforts and it boasts of approximately 1 000 books of different education streams and access to roughly 50 journal that specialise in education. In the general areas of fitness and recreation, Mahila Institute of Technology provides a modern sports hall and exercise facilities as well as tennis, volleyball, and soccer fields. Both indoor and outdoor exercises and other competitions are conducted for their athletic and spirit classes among the students. Yoga classes are also taught in the institute as part of their curriculum with a view of ironing a moral and spiritual fabric in students.
Mahila Institute of Technology has a single course offering for which it is well known – the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) programme. This course is a full-time course which is spread over two years and is sanctioned for an intake of one hundred students. Holders of B.Ed are well equipped with knowledge and skills to execute their professional careers in service to educate the nation. It is currently operating to offer teacher education only, however, as a facility of learning it offers all round training within the niche it currently operates in.
Mahila Institute of Technology student admission policy is stated by the Government of the respective State, U.T. Administration and the University to which the institute is affiliated to. Selections are based on merit scores in the qualifying examination and/or entrance test, if any. The institute may also conduct other forms of selection depending on the existing loopholes in the current policies. One important thing that potential students should appreciate is that the admission dates and examination dates are bound to differ year in year out and therefore any information they are getting should be cross checked with the institute’s website or the admissions office. About accommodation Mahila Institute of Technology has hostels for out-station students, the Institute has made arrangements for accommodation in the hostels which are located nearby the Institute. It also has a clean cafeteria which also has healthy foods and snacks for students and members of the institute’s staff. In response to current learning demands, it boasts computer facilities as well as continuously available internet connection giving the students opportunities to advance their studies via online tools. Further more, the institute also has a health centre with Aids to cover any emergencies a students might encounter. As a women’s education and has all-round facilities to teach, Mahila Institute of Technology, Meerut aims to empower the prospective female teachers.
