Mailam Engineering College, Villupuram also known as MEC is a private college which started its functioning in the year 1998 in the union of state Tamil Nadu. The college currently has the following Academic Departments Sheet metal Technology Social Sciences and Management Engineering and Technology, Computer Applications, Computer Science and Engineering and Information Technology & Computer Applications, Electrical Engineering MEC occupies a 42 acrecampus with a total student enrollment of 2098 and members of faculty 219. 

Regional institute of Computer Science and Technology is recognized by the All India Council For Technical Education New Delhi and affiliated to Anna University Chennai. MEC offers 16 courses across four degrees that are specialization in different engineering fields, MBA, and MCA. The college boasts a diverse student body with a 69:an unbelievable 31 male to female ratio with 99% of the students coming directly from in state.

MEC Villupuram offers various amenities that have added value to the learners and students. The campus comprises modern boys’ and girls’ hostels fitted with the necessary amenities, the Deputy Wardens stationed at the Hostels make sure students are comfortable. A modern gym with eight stations of physical fitness is designed for the hostellers and day scholars as well. 

The college library has a stock of over 38,550 volumes and has a journal subscription of 266+ providing a adequate resources for any academic process. Coming to the amenities side, sports lovers can expect many opportunities as there are numerous fields for cricket, football and volley ball and a variety of courts for badminton and table tennis inside an indoor stadium. The IT infrastructure received strengthened, having 900+ of terminals connected through the optical fibers and an internet connection which is 16 Mbps exclusive for academic and research purpose. 

A large student’s canteen, an air-conditioned hall, a medical center for students are also provided within the campus. The college has also an efficient bus service which has a total of 48 buses that connect more than 60 places in order to provide convenient transportation for students from various neighboring regions.

In all, MEC has 16 courses at the tertiary level with six being the B.E./B.Tech, four M.E./M.Tech, MBA and MCA programs. There are no part time or distance learning courses for all courses are taught full time. The total approved student intake through all the courses is one thousand, fifty four. In the last academic year, 322 students completed their undergraduate courses.

Undergraduate and postgraduate admissions in Mailam Engineering College have their approaches. The candidate who wishes to pursue undergraduate engineering courses needs to register for the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counselling only. Candidates who aim to do postgraduate degree courses in Engineering should produce valid CEETA-PG scores. The admissions for MCA programs are based on the TANCET scores. The college has its admission process once in the year to coincide with the state level entrance tests as well as counseling.
