About Malleswaram Ladies Association First Grade College For Women, Bangalore

Malleswaram Ladies Association First Grade College for Women (MLAFGCW) was established in the year 1985 and is a premier Wwomen’s college situated in the city of Bangalore. This women’s college has a campus area of 0.91 acre and aims to deliver quality education to girl students. It is an affiliated college and therefore, has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). With 451 student enrollment and 12 faculty members, the college emphasises on providing quality education in a compact manner. At the moment, MLAFGCW offers only one degree programme to its students, which implies its focus on commerce education.

This college has recently developed and installed various equipment that can improve the quality of students’ education process. The well-equipped library boasts 24,215 odd books, 15,488 title books and 8,145 text books, newspapers, journals and e-resources. There is computerised technological facility with 52 computers connected with internet and a language development laboratory. Another area of improvement is gross motor where the college has a small gym with treadmill, bikes for exercise, and balls. For the sports lovers, there are indoor games like table tennis, outdoor games like volley ball, kabaddi etc. are available in MLAFGCW.

MLAFGCW offers one full-time course, the Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) programme. This three-year programme is an undergraduate degree programme with an approved admission capacity of two hundred students The establishment of this college has been informed by the need to offer quality commerce education to many more female students who wish to be equipped with professional skills in their respective fields. B.Com is the flagship programme of the department which has been specifically developed to provide students with the basics of commerce as well as diverse streams of business to create and build a successful corporate personality or to pursue higher education in the commerce field.

The admission process of MLAFGCW is simple and it is also easy for the student to get through the admission process. The college takes into account performance in 10+2 or the equivalent exam as basic criteria for enrolment. This vision is true because MLAFGCW only admits female students so that young women are given an environment in which they can succeed academically as well as emotionally.

The support services are essential factors to exhaust in a college with the expectation of improving the student life and learning. The institute has an expansive hall, complete with 800-seating capacity for use as cultural hall, seminar, and conference facilities. For students who cannot afford decent meals, there is a canteen within campus premises where activities are averagely charged to make sure that all students have access to the basic and healthy meal to keep them nutritional fed throughout the day. They also contain a sick bay, emergency physicians, and first aid units in each floor of the health care building. It also has out of the college's Annual Health Check Ups for students in order to justify its health concern for them.
