Mamata Medical College, Khammam: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

Mamata Medical College situated in Khammam in the state of Telangana, India was set up in the year 1998. With the total 29 courses and 6 degree, the college is located in 40 acre campus and provide wide array of medical related programmes. National Medical Commission approved and NAAC accredited, Mamata Medical College is affiliated college and has been established in year 2000. The institution has 995 number of students and faculty of 273, which makes it suitable for medical education. The college provides number of specialisations in and out of medical, which include MBBS, MD, MS DM, and M.Ch at under graduate and post graduate level.

Mamata Medical College has various modern amenities that can enhance students’ learning process in the college. This has separate hostels for boys and girls, to ensure students get a comfortable place to live in during their studies. An ultra-modern, central air-conditioned hall with a total seating capacity of one thousand is used for holding conferences, Continuing Medical Education (CMEs) and guest lectures. For physical fitness,it has air-conditioned gyms with all modem facilities having separate section for boys and girls. Outdoor facilities include basketball, volleyball, tennis, and cricket facilities, etc while the indoor facilities include facilities for table tennis, carom, chess, etc. The main library is situated at CET with an area of 29,428 sq. ft occupied over two floors and provide comfortable air conditioned environment with comprehensive collection for academic pursuit and study.

The college provides a total of 29 courses in different fields of medical stream. As for the flagship programme, the MBBS course is introduced, the exact number of study places being 200, according to the approved quota. The college also offers a large number of postgraduate courses, following the major disciplines as MD and MS in General Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, General Surgery, Anaesthesiology etc. Furthermore, it has super speciality courses like DM Cardiology, M.Ch Neuro Surgery, and M.Ch Urology in the institution. It also has doctoral programmes for the college in the form of Ph.D. disciplines such as Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, and Microbiology. All courses are day  M.B.B.S,evening and night programmes do not exist; this makes the education intensive and solid.

MMB being a self-financing institution does not have its own entrance test; the admission criteria are usually based on the scores obtained in the national level tests. For the MBBS programme, there are centralised admissions that are in form of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). The NEET-PG is the basis of admission to postgraduate studies for all MD and MS courses as well. These standardised tests help to make selection criteria as fair and competitively challenging as it should be to deserving candidates who wish to join a medical school. The college follows admission schedules and procedures as laid down by the respective examination conducting body. This institution has over the years churned out many medical professional who have flooded the health facilities across the country. Although details about scholarships are lacking, the institution aims at producing quality health care graduates as well as nurturing of future medical practitioners.
