Mankachar College was established in 1971 as a rural affiliated college at Mankachar, Dhubri, Assam. This institution of higher education was built on a campus area of 3 acres and has various undergraduate programs running in arts and sciences. Mankachar College has been aided by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, NAAC, and since its inception, it has served the cause of education in this backward region for a period spanning over five decades. This college provides an ideal environment for developing academic growth and personal development with a total enrolment of 734 students and a faculty strength of 18. 

Mankachar College has manifold facilities that aim to enrich the learning experience of students here. The college library is one of the strongholds of academic resources within the institution, having stock of about 26,500 books pertaining to multi-disciplinary subjects in science and humanities. It subscribes to 5 periodicals and 4 daily newspapers, both regional and national, in Assamese and English. One can see the commitment of this institution toward technology in its computer center, well equipped with 35 computers and internet facilities.

There are a total of 7 full-time courses, all regular in mode. Courses offered are undergraduate degrees in the arts stream with BA courses having several majors in Economics, Assamese, English, History, and Political Science. It also offers a B.Sc. degree. All courses are designed as three-year full-time programs so that proper education is provided in the chosen field of study. 

The admission process to Mankachar College is mainly merit-based. Academic performance in the qualifying examinations is the basis of evaluation for the prospective students.
