MACOLLEGE or Mar Athanasius College, Kothamangalam is an esteemed one started in the year 1955. Positioned in Kerala, India, and serving as one of the best College according to NIRF 2024 Ranking which is 74. The college started its journey as an all-boys institution and is now a co-educational, autonomous affiliated college accredited by the NAAC; the institution offers 33 programmes under 7 degrees. MACOLLEGE provides education over an area of 61.77 acres for the enrolment of 1,779 total number students and has 89 members in its faculty.

Mar Athanasius College boast of infrastructure and facilities that have been developed to provide the best learning environment. Besides, the institution is an information center with large stocks of books and other related materials. MACOLLEGE embraces a plethora of courses at different levels. At the undergraduate level, the college offers 3-year full time courses in diverse fields of Commerce, Arts, Science and Vocational such as B.Com, BA, B.Sc, B.Voc. These are 2-year full time Master of Arts, Master of Science and Master of Commerce programmes. There is also integrated and self-financing courses in the college for its student. About 1,779 students pursue various courses offered at the institution, and the institutions also produce countless graduates every year.

The admission policy of the Mar Athanasius College is based on merit, which is of course in compliance with the guidelines set by the Mahatma Gandhi University to which it is a affiliate. The college enrolls students to several courses through the CAP quota of the University of Kerala. Although, the specific entrance tests are not mentioned, it is believed that the college takes MUST or any other qualifying examinations into consideration. MACOLLEGE has instituted scholarship schemes to help the eligible students. In the academic year 2022, 653 students of 1,436 students of the undergraduate and 90 students out of 540 students of the postgraduate benefited from the reimbursement policy as a show of the college’s willingness to support several students financially.

It is therefore attributable to the college to boast of a multi–talented learning community. In accordance to the latest statistical report, the institution has registered a student population of 1,976; 1,436 of the students are enrolled on the undergraduate studies and 540 students enrolled on post graduate studies. Segregation by gender reveals a higher female proportion of the students; 66% among undergraduate and 82% among postgraduate students. The college also enrols students from other states in different courses though there are few of them making 1% of the total number of students. Mar Athanasius College Kothamangalam with its traditions, a large number of disciplines, and relatively new and technical infrastructure remains as one of the most popular colleges in the state of Kerala.
