Mata Ganga Khalsa College for Girls, Kottan, was founded in the year of 1997, and it has become a true source of education for women in Ludhiana of Punjab area. Being an affiliated college, it is located on a 6 acre campus with 669 students. These are recognised by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) which shows the institution is in a process of offering quality education. The college has 37 members in faculty and offers 12 courses under 7 degrees to balance different learning needs and goals of a student.

The college has numerous learning amenities expected to boost learning experience with a view of shaping the students into better persons. The centre of the campus is occupied by a vast library that is reputed to be a central focal point of students and academician. At the undergraduate level, students can enrol for programmes such as B.A, B.Sc in Computer Science, B.com, B.C.A, B.Sc in Non Medical, B.Sc in Fashion Design, and B.Sc in Medical. In addition, for the learners interested in further education, the college offers postgraduate courses through MA in Punjabi, History and Political Science, M.Com and Post Graduate Diploma Computer Applications (PGDCA).  The numbers of intakes in all programmes amounts to 669, this shows how important the college is in offering education to women in the region.
