Matri Prem College of Education, Buxar was established in the year 2013. It is a co-educational college of education with the prime motto of grooming future teachers. On the Buxar-Patna National Highway No. 84, Chilhari Pratap Sagar, this affiliated college has a compact campus sprawling over 1.23 acres. The NCTE-approved institute offers two major courses: Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed), with a total student enrolment of 170. With a faculty strength of 15 experienced educators, the student-to-teacher ratio is maintained at a favourable 11.33:1, thus rendering personalised care and quality education to students.

The institution is well-equipped and provides all necessary facilities in a comfortable environment. At the core of its technological infrastructure is a fully equipped computer laboratory with Internet access, through which students receive training in basic computer applications by expert professionals. It is a powerhouse of knowledge, with the library having an impressive collection: encyclopedias, word book series, classics, periodicals, and magazines. Matri Prem College of Education also subscribes to research journals by NCTE and CERT, hence providing students with recent researches and current trends of education. The Audio Visual Laboratory is another highlight that is fully equipped with high tech educational media such as Television, Overhead projectors, slide projectors, audio/video players, and Digital Cameras to support innovative teaching-learning activities.

The two major courses that Matri Prem College of Education offers are Bachelor of Education, B.Ed. with 100 seats and Diploma in Elementary Education, D.El.Ed. with 100 seats. Both programs are full-time regular courses aimed at helping train students in the teaching profession. The B.Ed. program imparts advanced pedagogical skills and knowledge, while the D.El.Ed. course is aimed at developing teachers who could teach at the elementary level.
