The Maulana Azad Degree College was established in the year 2000 in Gonda, a north Indian affiliated college under the faculties of education. It is a small, co-educational college serving students in the village of Baital for over two decades. Post Bhawaniganj, Tehsil Dumariaganj, District Siddharth Nagar houses the college with a teacher training faculty duly approved by the National Council for Teacher Education. With a total student enrolment of 876, Maulana Azad Degree College offers four diverse degree courses that answer many academic interests and career aspirations.

Maulana Azad Degree College is having a wide battery of facilities aimed at enriching the learning experience and developing the overall personality of the students. The college provides four niche degree programmes – Bachelor of Education (B.Ed); Bachelor of Arts (BA); Bachelor of Science (B.Sc); and Master of Arts in Education (MA Education). The other noted specialisation is the intake of 100 students at the B.Ed programme, which is recognised by the NCTE; it is indeed the college's feather in the teaching education wing cap. T

The process of successful admission in Maulana Azad Degree College is different for different courses. The admissions to B.Ed are made on the principle of merit. The merit is obtained from the marks at the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination. Marking in the qualifying examination is the sole criteria to keep it transparent. All the policies of selections in the college by the State Government, the UT administration, and the affiliated University are adhered to.
