Meenakshi College for Women (MCW) was set up in the year 1975 and is a leading self-financing women's college recognised under the University of Madras. The technology factor is evident in the college through the Sri Abhinava Vidyatheertha Computer Centre with 7500 sq. ft of state-of-the-art computing. Degree wise Admission Process
B.A. Courses: MCW offers B.A. courses in History, Economics, and English Literature. Admission is based on marks obtained in 10+2 examination. The strength sanctioned for B.A. History and B.A. Economics is 70 each and for B.A. English Literature is 50.
B.Sc. Programmes: B.Sc. programmes in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology, Advanced Zoology and Biotechnology, and Computer Science are provided by the college. Merit-based admission with consideration of marks at 10+2 for related subjects is taken. Intake is between 50 and 100 seats depending on the programme.
B.Com Courses: MCW offers B.Com, B.Com Banking Management, and B.Com Corporate Secretaryship. Admission is based on 10+2 marks. The course B.Com has more than one shift to accommodate more students, with an aggregate intake of over 200 seats.
M.A. Courses: Postgraduate History, Postgraduate Economics, Postgraduate Tamil, and Public Administration courses are offered. Students are admitted based on marks scored in the respective bachelor's course. 20-30 seats are available for each of the programmes.
M.Sc. Courses: The courses provided by the college are M.Sc. Mathematics, M.Sc. Physics, M.Sc. Biochemistry, and M.Sc. Information Technology. The admission criteria consider the marks of the qualifying bachelor degree. An intake of 26-40 seats is offered in each course.
MCA Program: The Master of Computer Applications program has a capacity of 30 seats. It is provided to the candidate based on his or her performance in the qualifying test and related entrance exams.
