Melamora College, Golaghat was established in 1987 at Melamora Gaon of Golaghat district of Assam It is an affiliated college. The institution occupies a plot of 3.5 acres and has 10 undergraduate programs in two degree levels. The college intakes a total of 921 students in its facilities with proportionate division of male and female students with 52% and 48% respectively. Currently, the University has 25 members of the faculty, so students will be able to have a perfect proportion of students to teachers. Melamora College focuses in humanities it offers various programs of BA (Hons) in English, Assamese, Political Science, Education, History, Economics, Sociology & Philosophy. 

The college has put down several amenities which are essential in a learning institution to improve the learning process of the learners. The library which is believed to be the main component of the institutional collection includes 7000 books, 2 newspapers, and 1 magazine. It also sponsors activities such as the “Best Library User” competition, as well as a Hand written magazine for the promotion of reading named “GRANTHAKUTY”. Sports amenities are provided in all the schools allowing students health enhancing and co-curricular activities. The college has well developed it infrastructure facilities to suit modern requirements of education. Further, Melamora College has an update alumni base of students whereby the previous and existing students fellow each other. Melamora College presently has a total of 10 undergraduate programs all of which are full time programs. 

The BA classification of the degree is offered in many disciplines such as Advanced Assamese, Education Sociology, Philosophy, Economics, English, Political Science, History, and general Education. With regard to the number and type of courses offered each course has not been mentioned; however, the college has an authorized student intake capacity of three hundred Ninety Six students. For the academic year which ended in the year 2011/2012, the college had only 921 students enrolled and all these students were undergraduate. 

The outlets for enrollment to this college are predominantly on merit. Students interested in the programme are assessed on their academic achievement in their qualifying tests. The college does not provide any specific entry tests for admission to its institute as far as this section is concerned.
