Merit College of Education, Tirunelveli: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

Merit College of Education is an affiliated college in Tamil Nadu, India, and was established in 2012. Located on a sprawling 50-acre land, this co-educational institute is recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). The college teaches Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) and has the following capacities: total number of students: 193; and number of faculty members: 15. Generally, Merit College of Education-enrolled students in the teacher education programme stand to get quality education that more often prepares them for the job market in the teaching profession.

There are so many facilities available in the college to cater to the needs of the students’ physical as well as academic needs. Merit College of Education offers only one programme, the Bachelor of Education, or B.Ed. programme. This is a two-year full-time course with an approved intake capacity of 100 seats aimed at nurturing educators. Thus, the B.Ed. programme aims at imparting in students the professional competencies required for the teaching profession. Although the college awards only one degree, it shows that it is set on concentrating on the training of teachers and that it provides proper training for this course.

The admission process at Merit College of Education is in compliance with the rules and regulations of the State Government, Union Territory Administration, and the affiliated university. Appointment is merit based on marks secured in the qualifying exam and/or entrance test. The college may also use other methods of staffing as provided by the policies in use from time to time.
