Metca Institute of Teacher Education, Palayamkunnu, was started during the academic year 2007-08 affiliated with the University of Kerala and is located at Varkala, Tiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The institute, which is located on a sprawling 5.02-acre campus, is recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). It has a B.Ed. programme with a total admission capacity of 96 and a total number of faculty members of eight.
