MIT College of Food Technology, Pune (MITCFT Pune) is a recognized institution which was sponsored in 2006 with the main aim of providing education in food technology. This constituent college is in Loni Kalbhor; Maharashtra and it is accredited with the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) who Checks and elevates the standard of the education given in the course. MITCFT Pune has a variety of programmes namely B.Tech, M.Tech and Ph.D Food Technology to meet the prospective students at different levels of learning. Boasting of a faculty of 21 committed members, the college is intentionally designed to offer relevant learning for food technologists.
MIT College of Food Technology has boasted of having good endowments of facilities aimed at improving the student experience. This campus boasts state-of-art laboratory which enables one to learn practically on aspects relating to food technology. This is an added advantage since learners are able to undertake projects taking advantage of an enhanced IT support, which keeps them informed on the current trends in the IT field. Shall include sports as well by providing the basic necessity of cricket field, Football ground volleyball ground for out door games and indoor games like carom, chess etc. Physical fitness is catered to by a contemporary gymnasium. The institute has provided separate hostel facilities for both boy and girls who seek accommodation in MITCFT Pune so that they can live comfortably. The campus has a large cafetaria that offers freshly cooked balanced meals in clean environment accommodating different the needs of the students. Other facilities are a Bank of India with an ATM on campus, dispensary with ambulance facility and an auditorium for meetings and seminars.
MITCFT Pune has created an exciting offer to students within the scope of Food Technology, providing four programmes designed for different academic levels. The B.Tech in Food Technology is a regular programme of four years and M.Tech in Food technology is a full time course of two years having a sanctioned intake capacity of 20 students. One is a Ph.D. in Food Technology a six-year course, full-time programme which has an average of 10 admission quota for students pursuing higher research. These programmes aim at enabling students have broad and intensive acquaintance with different aspects of the food technology to enable them have desirable careers in the food technology either in the industries or in colleges.
MITCFT Pune currently offers the admission test through competitive merit that students need to undertake in order secure admittance into the institute. To take B.Tech admissions, the college relies on national level examination results like JEE Main and MHT CET. It is expected that all aspiring M.Tech students should produce a valid score of GATE, ICAR, or MCAER entrance examination. The college then compiles a preliminary list of candidates depending on their performance in these examination. As part of the admission test, Ph.D. aspirants are required to sit for a personal interview. MITCFT Pune also gives importance to the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) for different programmes to get admit eligible students.
