Model Education College, Birbhum, was set up in the year 2015 and is a co-educational college situated in Gobindapur, West Bengal. This is an affiliated college approved by the NCTE, with focused area of interest such as teacher education programmes. Fifty acre area of plot for the college is just 2130 sq meters. At present, the college has an intake capacity of 79 students along with 19 faculties. Model Education College offers two full-time programmes, that are the government approved course of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) for the prospective teachers of the region.

Model Education College has a number of facilities which facilitate learning for the students of the college. A fully stocked central library as a storehouse of all the learning and information materials in form of books, magazines, newspapers, journals and online information resources, covering various fields of education. These resources are fully encouraged to be used by the students at their entire learning cycle. The college boasts fully equipped laboratory such as Laboratory cum Resource Centre for Social Science, Science and Mathematics, Arts & Craft, Music, Psychology, Educational Technology and ICT, Health, and Physical Education (Yoga Centre). These labs are well taken care as per NCTE guidelines so that students have proper practical knowledge. For any student with accommodation difficulty, there is a separate hostel for boys and girls but within the comfort of the college walking distance. These hostels are provided with the facilities, which are available in any other youth hostels and are managed directly by the college or university.

Model Education College, Birbhum, at the moment, provides for two complete time courses in the field of education. The B.Ed programmeis offered to qualify 100 students at a time and the D.El.Ed programme is also opened for the aspiring teachers. Each of them can be pursued in a two-year programme and afford elaborate preparation for professionals in the sphere of education.

At Model Education College, the admission is given based on marks scored in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination. For B.E.d programme, admission process is based on the norms promoted by the West Bengal state government and the university to which it is affiliated to. In the same manner, the admission norms of the D. El. Ed programme is as per the norms set by state government/UT administration.
