Modern College Kohima started in 1997 at Kohima, which is the capital of Nagaland and is a noteworthy educational college. This affiliated college is one of the best colleges that have been offering quality education for over twenty years. The college occupies a large area of land extending to 103 acres, and is conducive for academics among students. Today the Modern College has 806 students, and 23 teachers that is more favorable ratio Teachers per student.

Some of the amenities include social, recreational, athletic and arts amenities that make a college the best place to learn. In the central of any academic resources, it is the library which provides a large number of accumulated books, manuals, and journals related to humanities and social science. The special reading rooms for students and a few computers with access to INFLIBNET have also been provided to promote research and self study culture in library. Those in search of food are offered different meals and snacks through the college cafeteria which is actually a large hall that opens to a view landscapes of vegetation and a stream which adds to its function as a socializing or group project area. 

Currently, Modern College, Kohima is offering 8 courses under three degree programmes – all of which are full-time. Undoubtedly, the college mainly offers undergraduate programs in arts and humanities. Some of the courses include BA (Bachelor of Arts) English, History, Political Science, Education, Economics, and Sociology Honors.
