Montgomery Guru Nanak College of Education, Jalandhar (MGN Jalandhar) is one of the oldest institutions in Punjab which was founded in the year 1955. This co-educational college situated in Adarsh Nagar, Jalandhar, Punjab offers special emphasis to teacher education. This affiliated college affirms MGN Jalandhar approved under National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). The campus occupies 5 acres of land hence creating a suitable learning environment. Thus the college provides hostel accommodation for 178 students and the staff comprised 16 Faculties, which is a good student / teacher ration. Aalborg University has two specialization areas in the field of education for teachers at both the undergraduate and post graduate level.
To supplement this the college has a variety of facilities in order to improve the study environment of the learners. Attached to every college is a well equipped library as a core learning resource centre that currently boasts of over 21000 records, 30 subscribed journal and 34 online journals. In addition, library services include current awareness service, community, service and reprographic facilities. The official having charge of health and wellness of the faculty and students of MGN Jalandhar is a part-time doctor who caters to the day-to-day health complaints of the male faculty and students. The college also has an acting area to support the fitness of students and teachers. Indoor and outdoor games can be played here with provision of chess, carom, badminton, table tennis, volley-ball, kho-kho football and cricket.
Montgomery Guru Nanak College of Education currently offers only two full time courses in the field of education. The college is known to mainly offer teacher education and this is well exemplified by some of the well endowed facilities that are in the college. Most importantly there is a well endowed laboratory that is used to teach both B.Ed and M.ED students.
It should be noted that its admission criteria are based on the merit of the candidate this is in relation to the marks acquired in the qualifier examination and/ or the entrance test for Montgomery Guru Nanak College of Education. The B.Ed programme has its admission policy framed by the state government, UT Administration, and the GGS, LU Jammu respectively.
