As a relatively new institution of legal education in Uttar Pradesh, Mulayam Singh Yadav Law College, Lucknow, was founded in 2017. This affiliated college which benefits from recognition of the Bar Council of India (BCI). The college has an enrolment of 65 students in total for all courses and has only 3 faculty members. It offers three undergraduate law programmes to cater for legal practice interest at different levels.
Mulayam Singh Yadav Law College has buildings and equipment that are basically intended to enable the students to learn effectively. The library, well stocked has 1,562 text books, will help students in their legal research and studying. This institution also understands the need to include practical training in the courses and offers a students moot court that assist the students to practice advocacy in a court room. For a student that needs to be accommodated, the college has a boys’ hostel as well as a girls’ hostel to ensure that learners who come from towns and districts are provided with safe and decent hostels. Facilities and resources include a fully Wi-Fi enabled computer lab to improve computer usage, usage of knowledge based networks and the internet. For the purpose of over all development, the college has provided some of the facilities for outdoor games including badminton, kho-kho, kabaddi and basketball etc. and indoor games include chess and carrom etc. The college also owns a canteen, health centre with first aid facilities, an auditorium where various events and seminars can take place, thus painting a well rounded college environment for learning.
Mulayam Singh Yadav Law College has a well defined theme which includes three law programmes. They include a three-year LLB programme, a three-year LLB Hons course and a five-year integrated LLB Hons programme. It is important for students to understand all courses are structured effectively, in order these students acquire acceptable knowledge in law in the legal profession. The college implemented a small but active student population with total enrollment of students equal to sixty-five persons in all the programmes offered. This small size makes it easier for instructors to get to know students and for students to get to know one another an aspect that is very vital in legal education.
Mulayam Singh Yadav Law College has taken measures in making sure that it admits law students with determination and talent. In general, law colleges look at performance in qualifying exams and in some instances, administer tests or interviews.
