Muthiah Polytechnic College, located in Annamalainagar Chennai, was started in the year 1958 and is a technical college in the state of Tamil Nadu India. This affiliated college approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has been generating technical talent from past 61 years. The college is spread over 13.42 acres of land and has a student strength of 1189 that is offered a wide option of diploma courses. Muthiah Polytechnic College offers six courses and has a dedicated faculty of 12 people therefore, it is devoted to offering quality technical education in different fields of engineering.

Muthiah Polytechnic College has well-equipped amenities that are intended to improve the learning goals and total development of learners. The rich library contains over 15511 volumes that provide the students with necessary knowledge of being an engineer. As for students who wish to engage in sporting disciplines, the college provides for basketball, volleyball, badminton, athletics, and others. The institution has functional and well equipped lab facilities and other infrastructural facilities that encourages practical experience in each department. The students have access to the college’s IT resources so as to improve the use of Information Technology in mastering their projects and also to be on par with technological developments. The Muthiah Polytechnic College provides six diploma courses which take full three years to complete. It offers courses for different engineered disciplines to give the learners a strong background in their fields of specialization. The college has total sanctioned intake capacity of 510 students for all the programme. The diploma courses are Mechanical Engineering which has 150 vacancies, Electrical and Electronics Engineering with 135 vacancies, Electronics and Communication Engineering with 120 vacancies, Civil Engineering 45 and Computer Engineering and Agricultural Technology with thirty vacancies each.

Admission policy of the Muthiah Polytechnic college is made as transparent as possible. For the three-year full-time diploma courses, merit through the SSLC (10th standard) examination is mainly followed. It follows the reservation policy of Tamil Nadu State Government for backward classes/most backward classes, SCs, STs for admission of students. In addition to the Direct Second Year Admission scheme, it also opens admission straight through to the second years of the course with the HSC (Academic & Vocational) or 10+2 Years ITI students, all through merit. The Training and Placement Cell in the Muthiah Polytechnic College is affiliated to the Director of Technical Education of Chennai.
