MGAC Vellore is one of the pioneering self-financing institutions in the state of Tamil Nadu, situated in Vellore, was started in the year of 1965. Being NAAC accredited and approved by the AICTE, this co-educational college offers a wide spectrum of undergraduate & postgraduate courses. Situated in a vast area of 32 acres, MGAC has a total enrolment of 3,986 and faculties and staffs 87. The college has 62 degree programmes in total with concentrations in Arts, Sciences and Management. MGAC enrolment is 57% Male and 43% Female students with 85 % undergraduate and 15% post graduate.
MGAC Vellore also has up to date facilities to facilitate the learning of the students in order to produce efficient and effective graduates. The library with the necessary literature is available, as well as departmental and scientific laboratories with practical exercises. Extra curricular activities are also encouraged and facilities available are good having a basketball court and a gym. The college has auditoriums to help host events and seminars thus giving the college an active campus life. MGAC being a merit based admission process usually starts in May- June for the academic year that starts in July- August. MGAC provides several scholarships to help deserving students and economically weaker sections. Based on the statistics presented, many students at MGAC are helped financially by means of scholarships or reimbursement of fees.
For undergraduate studies, among 3,399 students, 3,352 students (98.6%) were reimbursed in the year 2023. Likewise, for postgraduate studies, 529 out of 534 students (99%) were reimbursed.

Muthurangam Government Arts College (MGAC), Vellore, is a highly reputed institution providing a variety of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral courses in arts, sciences, and management. The merit-based admission criteria of the college take into consideration scores obtained at different state- and national-level entrance exams. MGAC imparts 41 undergraduate, 18 postgraduate, and many M.Phil and Ph.D. courses among a wide assortment of academic specialties.
For undergraduate courses, the minimum eligibility is the successful completion of 10+2 from a recognized university. The college provides courses in Arts (BA), Sciences (B.Sc), Commerce (B.Com), and Business Administration (BBA). Postgraduate candidates should have completed their bachelor's degree in the corresponding field from a recognized university.
Application Process
The application procedure for MGAC is different for different programs:

Degree wise Admission Process
B.A: MGAC provides several B.A courses such as Economics, English Literature, History, and Tamil Literature. The admissions are made on the basis of merit of 10+2 marks. The college has a total of 320 seats for B.A courses.
B.Sc: B.Sc courses are offered by the college in subjects like Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Zoology, and Nutrition and Dietetics. Admission is on the basis of 10+2 scores with emphasis on science subjects. MGAC has 442 seats for B.Sc courses.
B.Com: The college offers B.Com courses with 50 seats. Admission is on the merit of 10+2 scores, especially on commerce-related subjects.
BBA: The college offers a 40-seat Business Administration program with admission through 10+2 marks and, optionally, a personal interview.
M.A: MGAC offers M.A programs in Economics, English, History, and Tamil. Admission is on the basis of the performance of the candidate in the bachelor's degree course related to that program. There are 90 seats available in M.A programs.
M.Sc: M.Sc courses in Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, and Zoology are offered by the college. The candidate's scores in the respective subject at bachelor's degree level are considered for admission. There are 78 seats for M.Sc courses at MGAC.
M.Com: MGAC provides an M.Com course with 20 seats. Admission is made on the basis of B.Com or equivalent degree scores.
MBA: The institute provides an MBA course with 30 seats. Admission is either on the basis of CAT/MAT scores or on the basis of a personal interview.
Ph.D: MGAC offers Ph.D. programs in different streams. Admission is normally on the basis of a research proposal, entrance examination, and interview conducted by the institute.
