Nadar Mahajana Sangam S Vellaichamy Nadar College (NMSSVNC) started in the year 1965, accredited with autonomy and situated in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. The college is spread out over a large area of 44 acres of land and has 38 courses under 11 degree programmes. NAAC-National Assessment and Accreditation Council of the University and Approved by AICTE All India Council for Technical Education. The college currently has a student population of 5,214 and a staff population of 90 a fact that warrants a good student-teacher ratio. On the diversity, the institution shows a gender-diverse students; among the students in undergraduate programme 71% are males and 29% female, while in post undergraduate programmes 64% male and 36% female.

NMSSVNC’s belief that it is important to offer the best climate of learning and success for its learners. The college provides general amenities that are intended to help the students in the academic as well as their overall development. The library is one of the major units of the institution and it contains books worth over one crore rupees amounting to 65000. It makes available encyclopaedas, dictionaries, year books and periodicals in an open access system for the benefit of students. The college also has the best information technology facilities; this confirms that the students will be finding solace in some of the best technologies available when it comes to their programmes. For students studying science and technical courses, the college has consistently developed six aided science laboratories and twelve science laboratories for self-financed courses with modern and sophisticated instruments and apparatus.

The college also provides a vast number of courses from different fields of study, to cover a broad spectrum of educational needs. These include thirty-eight courses offered at the undergraduate, postgraduate, M.Phil and Ph.D levels. Some of the popular undergraduate programmes which the university offers includes B.Com, BBA, B.Sc in Computer Science, Physics, Math’s and Chemistry and BA in History and English literature. At post graduate level, the college offers MBA, M.A in history, M.Sc in Physics and Chemistry, M.Com,etc. For those students who are interested in research, NMSSVNC offers M.Phil and Ph.D. courses in History Commerce, Physics and Chemistry.
