Nalanda Foundations Polytechnic, Dharwad came into existence in 1992 is an affiliated college situated in Dharwad, Karnataka. The following institution is approved by the AICTE offers diploma courses in numerous fields of engineering. The polytechnic occupies a relatively small piece of land of only 6.12 acres; however, it offers a narrow specialisation for its learners. The institute is currently running with 43 students and has a 16 member faculty making the student-teacher ratio quite healthy. Nalanda Foundations Polytechnic has three full time diploma courses which are Civil Engineering, Computer Science Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering.

Obviously, Nalanda Foundations Polytechnic also offers some of the best facilities with a view to facilitating the students’ learning process. The facility is well equipped with books and resources especially in the library, which has indicating and reference issuing section. Under Aryabhata Book Bank Scheme students are provided with an opportunity to swap books and printed notes for each semester. There is also a lit reading area with newspapers, technical journal and magazines from each department of the library. To achieve this, the college has departmental practical laboratories to provide students with both practical training and theoretical knowledge. The institute has a strong focus on technological advancement, which is revealed by sounding information technology facilities with a view of equipping students for the global future. 

In its corridors, Nalanda Foundations Polytechnic provides students with a total of three full time diploma courses, each taking three calendar years. A total of one hundred and one students are enrolled in the institute through total intake seats in all the programmes offered by the institute. The diploma courses offered are in areas that are essential in the engineering practices of the current world market. These programmes are intended to equip the students with adequate knowledge in their chosen areas of specialisation for productive practice in engineering or for Masters Degree programmes.

The admission procedures followed in Nalanda Foundations Polytechnic are flavoured smooth to encourage intending students to gain admission without many hitches.  Part from academic educational development, Nalanda Foundations Polytechnic better embraces the brand of development. There is availability of indoor and outdoor exercises which are made available during break time and or at nights. There are competitions from one class to the other throughout the school term and a culmination of the academic year’s competition in a two-day sports day competition where section winners are rewarded. The yeast in sports supplement the academic activities by encouraging the students to be fit academically and physically. Also, the campus provide a canteen that serves students and employees to enhance the unity of the institute.
