Nammazhvar college of agriculture and technology, ramanathapuram, tamilnadu was established in the year 2015, it is solely an agri-science college. Located on a vast land of 250 acres, NCAT is the university that provides a concentrated study in agricultural sciences. The college is at the present time having an enrolment of 234 student and has a faculty of 26 teachers. NCAT is an equal opportunity institute for both the male and female students, in as much as the boys have the freedom to pursue their dreams in agriculture, the same applies to the girls. The college itself only offers one degree programme B.Sc. Agriculture (Hons) which is a four-year full course which aims at producing agriculturally literate students.
Yes, there are various kinds of facilities available in Nammazhvar college of agriculture and technology that can facilitates education endeavours. The college library is stocked with 5540 books, agricultural and related subjects; e-resources available- Agri-portal, Springer, Science Direct, ICAR e-Courses etc. The IT infrastructure includes a well-equipped lab with 50 high-speed internet-connected systems, accessible to students from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM daily. Established in the year 1999, NCAT has seventeen hi-tech laboratories and one ‘B’ Class Meteorology Observatory, designed to facilitate 40 students for each batch in case of curriculum based practicals. The college also places an emphasis on the physical health of the learners, providing the sporting and exercise amenities, a gym and even a swimming pool to ensure the college adopts the comprehensive development concept.
B.Sc. Agriculture (Hons) is the flagship programme for the NCAT, which has dozens of programmes planned for enrolment in their intending academic session. These include transport, production, marketing, processing and usage of agricultural produce and products which are embedded in this all-inclusive course. The data concerning the total number of seats is still not clear, but according to the new intake capacity the college takes 234 students. The course adopted full time study mode as it prepares students for intensive and effective training in agricultural science through practice throughout the four years.
