About National Centre for Diseases Control, New Delhi

The National Centre for Diseases Control (NCDC) in New Delhi, as the name suggests is one of the oldest and most recognised Centre in the world since 1909. Located in India’s capital, this affiliated college is spread over an area of 15.35 acres located at 22 shamanth Marg The organization has been instrumental in providing requisite training in the arena of public health and training in disease control. At the present, with defined concentration, the institute provides only one post graduate programme, the MPH in Field Epidemiology and showcasing their dedication in developing specialists in area of public health.

National Centre for Diseases Control currently has many amenities that enhance its educational objectives and research activities. The institute has a well-stocked library with books and bound journals amounted to 37, 054, and 123 theses and dissertations. Internet services are of great importance to students and researchers as they enhance their study and research. These laboratory facilities are provided with Dependent on the respective department, Immunology laboratory, HIV-2 referral laboratory, Integrated Counselling and Testing Centre (ICTC) exposes the students in essential aspects of disease control. In academics, we have an auditorium for seminar and conference activities, provided by NCDC. It also focuses on technology development with having good IT facilities so that the students are well prepared for the technological world. 

When it comes to the kinds of courses it offers, therefore, NCDC is not greedy for quantity but rather attends to quality. The institute currently offers only one full-time postgraduate programme, the Master of Public Health (MPH) in Field Epidemiology. This two-year course aims at developing competent epidemiologists to meet the evolving challenging public health tasks. Setting the intake to an average of 20 students per year, the programme guarantees focused and hardworking students with the kind of training they deserve. The enrolment is small enough to ensure the student effectively engages the institute’s fifteen-member faculty who are enriched with practical and professional experience.

The selection criteria in NCDC follows a very strict admission procedure as an indication that the institute offers only the best academic courses. This is probably followed by the academic performance of the applicant in any related undergraduate programme, and previous experience in public health or similar disciplines. In addition to the essential documents and the test, candidates might be interviewed or write statement of purposes which should show motivation and suitable aptitudes for the field of epidemiology since the course is quite specialized.

MPH i.e Master of Public Health (Field Epidemiology) is a two years post graduation program offered on a full time basis by the The National Centre for Disease Control (Formerly National Institute of Communicable Diseases) (NCDC), New Delhi which is affiliated to the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi.

Eligibility :-

Candidates having a bachelor's degree in any health science stream from any recognized institution are eligible to apply for the course.

Age:- The upper age limit is 45 years for in-service candidates and 35 years for other candidates.

Steps to Take admission :- The entrance exam, all the counselling procedure and selection of candidates for admission to this course is done by GGSIP University. So, you have to fill the form whenever it is available on the website of GGSIPU and then you have to appear for the entrance exams for the same. If you qualified the exam, you will be called for counseling and then if you submitted all the required documents with payment of fees, then your admission will be done.
