National College for Teacher Education, Perumbavoor is one of the premier institutions founded in the year of 2005 with the great responsibility of mapping the future of education. The co-educational college is set in Meprathupady, Vengola and integrated with 4 acres of area for teacher education specialisations. Thus, the college is NAAC accredited institution affiliated to the Maharajas Vishwavidyalaya, Bharatpur approved by the NCTE, and stands as one of those institutions which solely dedicated for the excellence in the professional preparation of teachers. Currently the college has 108 students with 13 faculty members, thus offering the much needed one on one interactions between students and faculty.
National College for Teacher Education has developed host of facilities aimed at improving on the learning environment of the learners. The nucleus of academic resources is a library which contains 3402 books, 23 journals, ten periodicals some of which are educational and international. The it infrastructure is also outstanding; it has fully equipped computer lab it has internet connection of up to 100 Mbps. In determining that applied training, the college has developed specific facilities of Educational Technology, Psychology, Physical Science, & Natural Science laboratories. There is a complex of athletic fields and workshops for the students’ physical development and a canteen for their nutrition. The college also offers different hostel facilities for boys and girls and thus the college offers 25 for boys and 50 for girls which helps students from long distance place to make comfortable to stay.
National College for Teacher Education offers two full-time courses in teacher education: For the post graduation courses the common names that are offered to the students are Bachelors of Education also referred to as B.Ed. and Masters of Education, known as M. Ed. Both programmes take 2 years (4 semesters) to complete and admits 50 students per batch for both courses, making a total of 100 student-intake in two courses. Such programmes are intended to prepare students for a career in teaching by imparting to them requisite knowledge and skills together with supervised practical experience. It is clear from the above that college seeks to prepare all round teachers that are equipped with both the theoretical knowledge and practice.
This college follows the normal admission process only based on the merit criteria depending upon marks obtained in the qualifying or the entrance examination.
