National College of Education, Shivamogga: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

National College of Education was established in 1963 in Shivamogga. This affiliated college is situated at Balraj Urs Road and is empowered with approval by the National Council for Teacher Education-NCTE. The college is located on a small plot of 1.77 acres and aims at offering relevant and excellent education in teaching. At present, the institute is having 88 students enrolled and now having a 6-member faculty making the student-teacher ratio healthy and conducive to fostering the learning of concepts.

A list of the available facilities which are facilitates to improve the learning of the students in the National College of Education  includes; Our school library has a collection of more than 19137 books, and has subscribed 13 regional and national journals relevant to scholastic mileage. The institution appreciates the role of technology in the current society and has provided the computer laboratory with computers and internet access of thirty five computers. For the prospective teachers, a specialized psychology laboratory contains resources for the experiments making the connection between theory and practice. The college also places emphasis on physical health, how has enabled it to incorporate a gymnasium and every extensive sporting facilities such as a football, cricket, hockey and kho-kho playground, as well as indoor sporting facilities of table tennis, carom and chess.

Shivamogga National College of Education has a course focused curriculum with its core product, the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed). This regular two-year course has an intake capacity of one hundred seats to meet the needs of those students who want to make a teaching profession. For this reason, it is instituted to enable students to complete a curriculum that would adequately prepare them for practice in the sphere of education.

National College of Education operates on following admission norms Admission is done on merit basis, 75% of total seats are available under government quota and rest 25% seats are available under management quota. All these admissions are undertaken in compliance with the policy and guidelines on admissions as decreed by the State Government and Kuvempu University. College follows a formal application process, most probably it considers the academic performance of the student and if the student has taken some entrance examination but the names of the examination are not given.

Female students who pursue their studies from this college and have travelled across different areas of the region are provided hostel facilities that are provided National Education Society.
