The college offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs with particular emphasis on education and physical education. The admission process at the National Post Graduate College seeks to bring in meritorious students for the different programs offered by the institution.
Normally, the college actually starts the admission process for the academic year some months prior to the commencement of classes. In most cases, admissions are granted purely on merit, taking into account the marks scored in the qualifying examination. Some courses have an entrance examination as part of the admission procedure.
For admission to its B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) program (intake 100), merit is based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination and/or in an entrance examination, the relative weightage being determined by the state government's or university's policies. For B.P.Ed. (Bachelor of Physical Education), a choice of 50 seating capacities has a more comprehensive admission criterion by inclusion of written test, fitness test, interview and percentage obtained in the qualifying examination. The final merit is prepared on the basis of the combined results of all the above mentioned criteria.
