NDRK College of Education, Hassan was set up in 2004, and this is one of the leading teacher training college in Hassan situated in Karnataka. It is a co- educational affiliated college approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) in teaching profession. Located at K.K. Block, B.M. Road behind D.R. Karigowda Residency the college has started two professional courses in education. NDRK College of Education is a small institution with a total of 187 students and twenty two faculty members.
The college has facilities that aim at improving the learning environment of the college to the students. The library with more than 4,000 books on different aspects of education is an information center for trainees. It has both open access and borrowing systems which make the students to develop good reading culture. The college also use more than ten educational journals so as to ensure that students update themselves with the current trends. NDRK College of Education also has physiology, physics, chemistry, and psychology laboratory, used in practical learning. These centres offer practical experience very essential for the shapers of the future generations.
NDRK College of Education offers two full-time courses: In SADC there are two teaching qualification namely a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and a Diploma in Education (D.Ed). B.Ed program to shall register hundred students only, and D.Ed program shall register fifty students only. Both take two years and cover broad areas of learning that comprises the theory of education and practice. These two form the major focus of the college and gives adequate focus to the training of teachers to enable them face the challenges in future as educators.
NDRK College of Education doesn’t have any reservation policy or management quota, and unlike self-financed college, the admission is done on the basis of merit list following the rules and regulation of the state government and the university affiliated to this institution. For the B.Ed Program the policy regarding admission is total number of marks in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination. It also uses other techniques for selection depending on the regulations set by the Karnataka state government. This helps in employing only the best brains and those who have passion for serving as teachers.
