NMS Sermathai Vasan College for Women, Madurai: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

NMS Sermathai Vasan College for Women, Madurai, was started in 1993 and is a women’s college in Madurai affiliated with the Madurai Kamaraj University. The college is situated inAvaniapuram, near Madurai, Tamilnadu. Spread over 14.02 acres of land, the college offers twenty three courses in eighteen departments. The institute has 2,683 students in total enrolment, 81 are faculty members and offers numerous Diploma, UG, and PG courses. The college is NAAC accredited and has 1,202 students of which 92 are on UG programmes and the remaining 8% are on PG programmes. All students remain within state’s residents which make its focus predominantly regional.

NMS Sermathai Vasan College for Women provides numerous improvements for students as part of the college facilities. The facility comprises well prostate hostels that can house 500 girls and are in close proximity to the academic block. The library provides books and other resources and various computerised services to meet academic needs. Seven fully equipped computer labs, including more than 40 computers in every lab connected with LAN are available for the students to use modern technical instruments. It also has laboratory facilities for practical class works and other innovative development projects.

For the extra co-curricular activities, NMS Sermathai Vasan College for Women has two large conference halls with a seating capacity of five hundred members each for major events/seminar. Sports facilities from championship supporting events like chess, badminton, volleyball etc. are also there in the campus. The availability of gym in school allows the students to exercise and thus exercise good health. The college is providing hygiene foods for consumption within the college premises through it’s a canteen at a reasonable price. Other facilities are health centre with first aid treatment, guest house for visitors’ accommodation and transport wing with 10 Buses and 8 PRC (Ladies special) for various regions.

The college offers a total of 19 courses such as BA, BCA, B.Com, BBA, B.Sc, MA, M.Sc and several others. The routine programmes are as follows: BA in Tamil & English, BBA, B.Com, B.Sc in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Scienece as well as various postgraduate programmes. All programmes are available in full-time and the UG programmes span three years and the PG programmes span over two years.
