NMSM Government College, Wayanad, started in 1981, is an affiliated college situated in Kalpetta, Kerala. As a government institution located in a 27.18 acre facility, the college has a wide focal area with 11 courses in 6 degree programmes. The college has also been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council-NAAC indicating the college's goal of providing quality education. NMSM Government College offers Art courses in a favourable environment for learning with a total enrolment of 881 students and 45 faculties.

NMSM Government College has put in place several facilities that made up the overall facilities for the student. It is also rich in library facility that contains more than 23000 books, 48 journals and 26 periodicals. Learning Resource Centre is also provided with the internet accessible computer systems for its effective administration. Apart from the academic activities, the college provides are available to sports enthusiasts which include play ground facility for volley, football, cricket and other games as well as the indoor games  Also the campus has a modern auditorium known as Sarangi, which has a sitting capacity over five hundred people and its used during cultural activity or academic functions. Also, the college has girls’ hostel, health & fitness centre with gymnasium and a canteen facility for the students and the staff of the college.

At both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, NMSM Government College provides all the full time courses. Teaching-learning programmes offered by the institute includes eleven courses out of them seven at undergraduate level and four at the postgraduate level. These include the faculties that cuts across the Commerce, Arts, and SDciences realms. The total approved intake across all these programmes stands at 278. Some of the main undergraduate programmes are B.Com Finance, BA Mass Communication and Journalism, BA Development Economics, BA History, B.Sc Computer Science, and B.Sc Chemistry. At postgraduate level it began offering M.Com Finance, MA Economics, MA World History and Master of Communication and Journalism (MCJ).
