The Onda Thana Mahavidyalaya was established in 2007 and has been offering undergraduate courses for students from the arts stream ever since. Affiliated with the Bankura University, West Bengal, the college offers B.A. Honours courses to its students in the fields of history, literature, political science and more. Candidates who aspire to pursue these courses shall clear the Onda Thana Mahavidyalaya eligibility criteria. The eligibility criteria assert that candidates shall have completed their 10+2 qualifying examination. The complete admission processes are conducted online the notices for which are released on the official website during the month of June or July. The college has a career counselling cell that takes care of guiding the students on their respective career paths.

The college provides a range of facilities to its students. Onda Thana Mahavidyalaya, Bankura, also provides a library which houses 7,000 textbooks, 5,500 reference books/ journals, as well as a reading room. It offers sports facilities for its students, a computer training centre for students to learn computer application principles, a cafeteria, a modern gym with an instructor, a well-equipped Geography laboratory, and an active alumni association programme that ensures proper networking and guidance for the students.
