Orphanage Polytechnic College is one of the prestigious technical institutions situated at Edavanna, Kerala state of India, which was started in 2015. Situated in the beautiful town of Edavanna in Malappuram distrcit this affiliated college is spread over an area of 8 acres of land. Accredited by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the institute has gained popularity among the qualifying engineers within a short time ever since its creation. The college has a capacity of 630 students for general intake and has a faculty of 29 members which provide personal attention to the students. The four specialised diploma programmes offered by the institute are designed to help students gain knowledge to fit into today’s complex technological environment.

Orphanage Polytechnic College offers a wide variety of services which add up to academic needs of a student and overall college’s experience. Every learning institution must have a library as the core of acquiring knowledge to students, as modelled below: Apart from that sport lovers can also engage in different forms or activities since the college provides various sports amenities for work and play. The institute’s policy of keeping abreast with the current technological advancement is displayed by good standards in information technology to ensure the students are equipped with viable technological knowledge. Several campus cafeterias are distributed to meet not only the student’s nutritional needs but also serve as areas for relaxation. The college also has an auditorium for conducts of events, seminars and cultural activities that enhance the college experience.

OPC currently provides a limited bundle of four full-time diploma courses, each taking three years to complete. Among the courses are Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Civil, Automobile, and Electrical and Electronics. These programmes include those which are oriented towards different branches of engineering, which prepare students for their future work. The colleges collectively offer only 240 approved intakes for all courses and this has been divided in equal proportion in the four programmes offered in the colleges. This makes it easy to achieve the students to faculty ratio necessary for proper regard and learning. Admission process at Orphanage Polytechnic College is very much simplified so that it can be easily understood by anyone. Hence, it is not known from where the students are admitted, or under which process but it is common practice in Kerala that the polytechnic college admission is done based on the marks secured in the 10th standard. The rate charged for all courses is the same, ₹ 89,200 and this shows that the business of the institution is under a uniform Education System approach hence students and parents have an easier time in financial planning.
