Panampilly Memorial Government College, Chalakudy: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

PMGC, Chalakudy is a renowned institution of the collegiate level that was founded in 1975. This affiliated college is situated in Thrissur, Kerala, and comprises sprawling 25-acre of land. From these programs, PMGC has ten courses in ten fields combined into six degree programs to accommodate students’ number, 810 in total. The college has a committed staff of 36 members to provide the students with a better student teacher ratio. Established with the recognition from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), PMGC proves itself as one of the many successful educational providers in the area.

This college is determined to create an all-round educational facility where students can succeed in their studies being surrounded by an environment of ample and updated equipments. The school has a library which lists general fiction, non-school and reference sections and is fully stocked for students to use to study and do research individually. For the sports enthusiasts, PMGC has state-of-the-art gymnasium, various users’ teams to represent the college in intercollegiate tournaments. The college also boasts of a computer science laboratory with computers 30 and internet in order to update the students with modern technologies.

PMGC provides a diversified list of undergraduate and post graduate courses in its numerous fields of specialization. The college offers six undergraduate courses that are BA in Economics and Political Science, B.Sc in Mathematics and Physics, and B.Com. At the postgraduate level it offers MA in Economics, Political Science and Malayalam, M.Sc.Mathematics and M.Com. All courses are full-time since the college has adopted an intensive and focused learning approach. Although it is not cleared showing the number of seats in each course, the total strength of students in all programs is 810.

PMGC has a defined policy on admission with regards to the policy on selection, but the procedure is not explained in detail. It is a government college and it probably follows admission policies of the state government, and the University to which it is affiliated. The college also has provided a girls’ hostel to accommodate 24 students to make feel them comfortable if they are from distant places. Even if the information about particular scholarships is missing, as an institution which is a part of the government of Pakistan the PMGC must provide numerous students with some forms of funds. The college has an interest in education and the welfare of the students in terms of owning and availing basic commodities like books and stationery through cooperative society which operates at margin-free because the college is situated in a rather isolated area.
