Established in 1962 at Pandu, Maligaon, Guwahati, Assam, Pandu College is counted among the premiere colleges in Assam State. Affiliated and accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), it provides various undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Current student strength at Pandu College stands at 2,296, spread across the 3.95-acre campus, with 39 strength in faculty. The institute provides 36 courses in 9 degrees, with specializations in biotechnology, computer science, and the traditional schools of arts and science. The student:teacher ratio is large, with a UG:PG ratio of 55:45% of females, showing inclusion-based education. 

Pandu College has a wide range of opportunities to better student experience. The library, a cornerstone in the availability of academic resources, embodies over 32,600 texts and reference books along with several other journals and digital resources. All the libraries are open from 9 AM to 5 PM, which is huge in itself regarding the number to engage in reading and research. The college has separate hostels for Boys and Girls. The Boys hostel has an accommodation for about 60 students. The hostel for girls has facilities to accommodate 98 boarders. There are facilities for indoor and outdoor games in the college campus for the young sports lovers. The college also has a multi-gym for the health-conscious students and staff. The college has a number of laboratories of the Departments. The lab of the Geography Department has got the status of a research lab from Gauhati University. Other facilities offered here include a canteen, Wi-Fi access, a health center accompanied by first aid facilities, and ample parking space. 

The academic setup of Pandu is as diversified as it is extensive. It offers 36 programmes in total. This includes a large spread of both full-time under-graduate and post-graduate courses that encompass various disciplines. The institute comprises of twenty-seven under-graduate courses. This creates a broad mix amidst the popular courses, which include a B.Sc in Biotechnology, BCA, B.Com, and BA, among others accompanied by a range of specializations. At the postgraduate level, there are 9 courses spread across Zoology, Education, Assamese, and Geography.

At Pandu College, the admission process is strictly merit-based so that deserving students can strive forward in their selected courses. Admission to most of the courses is based exclusively on the performance of the students in the academic examinations of the previous qualifying examinations. Pandu College through the years has churned various alumni who have worked in different sectors.
