Founded in 1964, this college runs under the umbrella of PCPS Girls' Polytechnic, Guwahati. It was and continues to be a part of its life on a 15.5-acre sprawling campus at Bamunimaidan, Guwahati. This institute is affiliated with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and has been shaping the future for ambitious girls dreaming of becoming engineers for almost sixty years. A focused learning environment is provided by the present strength of 382 students and the 14 faculty members at PCPS Girls' Polytechnic.  The four focused diploma programs are offered at the institute so as to provide help to the qualifying students with the skills and knowledge.

The college offers a wide variety of facilities that go towards improving the overall learning experience. The academically well-stocked library is truly the core of all knowledge resources, and it provides students with a very wide range of technical literature and reference materials. The institute feels proud of its excellent IT infrastructure, which offers exposure to the up-to-date technology to students. For hands-on learning, departmental laboratories offer practical exposure across various disciplines. The college is also equipped with an auditorium wherein seminars, events, cultural activities, etc. are centralised, hence enhancing a bubbling campus life. 

Further, the Training and Placement Cell attempts to reduce the gulf between academia and industry by organising campus visits and campus recruitment drives with regard to the final-year students. Diploma Programmes — The PCPS Girls' Polytechnic presents four full-time Diploma courses of three years duration. These are designed to suit the technical interests of the pupils. The full program has an intake of 40 from each, totaling 160. This is a number that is very mandatory to ensure concentration on a single individual for personal attention and quality learning.
