Peet Memorial Training College, Mavelikara, the pioneer institution in the province of Kerala, India was established in the year 1960 with steady commitment for teacher education. Affiliated to the University of Kerala, it has its campus situated in Mavelikara over an area of 5 acres it is NAAC accredited. The college which is approved by NCTE- National Council for Teacher Education is currently offering two specialisation courses in education having student intake of ninety six. Peet Memorial Training College has produced some number of facilities that will foster the learning ability of the college students. Located in the centre of academic requirement, the library boasts a collection of over 20,000 books and offers an adequately sized and lit reading room to the students as well as the faculties. The campus has integrated information technology and computer system with 25 computers and internet connection. Peet Memorial Training College offers two full-time courses in education: a B.ED and M.ED. Self- Financing programme on Education. Each of the two programmes takes two years to complete, and the colleges admit a total of 50 students per course, giving a combined total of 100 seats for both courses. These are programmes which when taken prepares a student with the knowledge and tools which would enable him/her to begin a professional life in teaching and educational management. The existence of these basic education programmes in the college is seen as a way of focusing on teacher training as a specialised college and nurturing of quality teachers.

Admission procedure: The B.Ed programme’s admission is based strictly on merit this includes marks from the previous qualifying exam. The Self-Financing in M.Ed also similarly has admission procedure where marks score in the qualifying examination and/or entrance test would be the criteria. The college may also use other screens in accordance to the guidelines set down by the state government or university.
