PKM College of Education, located in Madampam, Kannur, was established in 1995 is an one of the leading institutions in dedlivering teachers training courses. This is a co-educational college which was established to promote future teacher trainees. The college is affiliated with the Kannur University and recognised by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Offering all round teacher education with a total student enrolment of 99, the college has gone to become one of the most sought after institution of the region.
For its operational and academic activities, PKM College of Education has installed and has ready a host of contemporary facilities. It is fortunate to have round about 125 students within the faculty of education and development, comprised of the student teachers and the faculty staffs with the library as their centre of knowledge. For athletes, the college has playgrounds for basketball, handball, football, and an underground hall for volleyball, shuttle badminton and table tennis. This is evident in the establishment of UGC Net Resource Centre of the college having over 30 computers and high internet bandwidth. The students seeking to become teachers are provided with six methodology labs fully equipped, a language lab, a technology/ICT lab, a psychology lab, an art, craft, performance lab, and a science lab. In addition, the college has two seminar halls: one for more 100 persons and another for 50 persons and are equipped with digital and Audio-visual facilities.
PKM College of Education, Madampam put special emphasis in providing the Bachelors of Education (B.Ed) course. It is a two years full course and aims at training competent teachers. The college has got an approval of 50 admission for the B.ED course which will help the college to focus on every student individually and provide quality education to everyone. This is made possible by the specialisation where the institution is well equipped and have the workforce of preparing competent qualified educators to impact the field of education.
