The Post Graduate Institute of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Akola is one of the well-known constituent of the institute brought into being in the year 1970., The technology institute, specifically in teaching veterinary and animal science, is located in Maharashtra in Akola. PGIVAS offers a total of 24 courses for 2 different degree levels—both postgraduate and doctoral levels. It is known that there is a total enrolment of students amounting to 68, with 19 faculty members teaching in the various streams. As it is a co-educational institute, the PGIVAS accepts students from all backgrounds. So, students studying there get the full environment for studying and adapting to the atmosphere. 

Fully dedicated to provide better facilities to students, PGIVAS has integrated a girls' hostel in the premises. Twenty students can accommodate there in well-furnished rooms, with a balcony attached, along with modern amenities. The campus has a comprehensive library, equipped with the latest facilities, an extensive collection of books, theses, and journals. This is coupled with fully equipped state-of-the-art IT infrastructures, sports facilities, departmental laboratories, a gym, and an auditorium for events and seminars to ensure a holistic learning development at PGIVAS. Health Center: Facilities for first-aid that look after the well-being of the students in the hostel, assured to be done whenever the need arises.

It offers a wide range of courses—full-time postgraduate, doctoral programs in Veterinary Sciences. The curriculum includes M.V.Sc. It provides post-graduate programs in such subjects as Genetics, Gynecology, Veterinary Medicine Ethics and Jurisprudence, and Veterinary Surgery and Radiology. Ph.D. courses are also available in Genetics, Gynaecology, and Poultry Production. The intake of students is different for different courses, like M.V.Sc. Gynecology, which offers as many as 110 seats.

The whole admission process in PGIVAS is based on merit. This ensures a lot of merit in taking the intake of both M.V.Sc. as well as Ph.D. students. M.V.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees. A candidate will be selected for M.V.Sc. on the basis of his or her academic merit. For the admission in Ph.D. entrance examination results and academic performance are considered. The Post Graduate Institute of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (PGIVAS), Akola, is a highly reputed institution for imparting education in veterinary and animal sciences. 4. Academic merit of the candidates concerned will be the basis of selection.

Ph.D. Programs:

1. Candidates would possess a Master's degree in the relevant specialization from a recognized university.
2. Apply as mentioned through the official PGIVAS website or as per the notification published by the institute.
3. Upload all necessary documents inclusive of academic transcripts, certificates, and any relevant credentials.
4. Take part in the entrance examination held at PGIVAS.
5. Shortlisting of candidates for an interview.
6. Last selection would be based on their performance in the entrance examination, interview, and academic merit collectively.

Degree-wise Admission Process 

M.V.Sc. Programs: Several M.V.Sc. programs are offered in the disciplines of Gynaecology, Poultry Production, Physiology, Biochemistry, Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex, Livestock Production and Management, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Pathology, Nutrition, Veterinary Surgery and Radiology, Veterinary Medicine Ethics and Jurisprudence, and Genetics. Merit is the sole basis for admission into these programs, which differ in the number of offered seats on a specialization basis. M.V.Sc. in Gynaecology has the most seats available at 110.

Ph.D. Programs: Ph.D. programs with specialization include Gynaecology, Poultry Production, Physiology, Biochemistry, Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex, Livestock Production and Management, and Pharmacology, and Toxicology, Pathology, Nutrition, and Veterinary Surgery and Radiology, Veterinary Medicine Ethics and Jurisprudence, and Genetics. Admissions are based on selected tests and academic achievements. The seat availability for the Ph.D. option tends to be lesser, with Gynaecology providing 12 seats and Poultry Production 2.
