The Post Graduate Institute of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (PGIVAS), Akola, is a highly reputed institution for imparting education in veterinary and animal sciences. M.V.Sc. Programs: Several M.V.Sc. programs are offered in the disciplines of Gynaecology, Poultry Production, Physiology, Biochemistry, Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex, Livestock Production and Management, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Pathology, Nutrition, Veterinary Surgery and Radiology, Veterinary Medicine Ethics and Jurisprudence, and Genetics. Merit is the sole basis for admission into these programs, which differ in the number of offered seats on a specialization basis. M.V.Sc. in Gynaecology has the most seats available at 110.

Ph.D. Programs: Ph.D. programs with specialization include Gynaecology, Poultry Production, Physiology, Biochemistry, Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex, Livestock Production and Management, and Pharmacology, and Toxicology, Pathology, Nutrition, and Veterinary Surgery and Radiology, Veterinary Medicine Ethics and Jurisprudence, and Genetics. Admissions are based on selected tests and academic achievements. The seat availability for the Ph.D. option tends to be lesser, with Gynaecology providing 12 seats and Poultry Production 2.
