Pragati College of Education, Darjeeling: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

Pragati College of Education, established in the year 2012, is a co-educational institution in Darjeeling, West Bengal. This affiliated college, approved by NCTE, aims at moulding the cream of future educators. Located on a compact 0.87-acre campus, PCOE has two specialised courses in Education with an enrolment of 274 students. Its faculty strength is 28, hence, it always maintains a very favourable student-to-teacher ratio, facilitating personal attention and quality education.

The college has many facilities to support learning and the all-round development of its students. A well-stocked library will function as the knowledge centre, while the IT infrastructure keeps the student abreast of technological development in pedagogy. The campus comprises laboratories for practical learning, an auditorium for events and seminars, and sports facilities to maintain the physical fitness of the students. A canteen refreshes the students with refreshing beverages and snacks. The health centre caters to students' health by providing first-aid facilities. There is also a gym for the fitness enthusiasts and parking space in Pragati College of Education.

Pragati College of Education is basically concerned with two major programs in the field of education. The institution offers a B.Ed. program with 100 seats and a D.El.Ed. with 50, both full-time courses of two years' duration, structured to leverage students with the needed competencies and knowledge to become successful practising teachers. 

The admission process to all programs at Pragati College of Education is merit-based, which considers the marks obtained in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination. The admission policy for the B.Ed. course is in accordance with the rules framed by the State Government, UT Administration, and the affiliated University. The state government or the UT administration will decide on admissions to the D.El.Ed. program. So, it makes the admission process very fair and transparent, drawing dedicated aspiring teachers from all walks of life.
