Public College, Samana, was founded in 1969 and is one of the co-educational institution located in Samana city of Punjab State. This affiliated college provides numerous courses in a wide of range of fields due to approval from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Located on a 36 acre campus, it has a total student population of 2,288 and is served by a faculty of 31. Public College, Samana, offers 18 programmess and 12 majors in Arts, Commerce, Science and Computer Applications fields. Other notable facilities are well equipped laboratory, separate hostels for boys and girls, canteen, a parking place, an auditorium and internet connectivity throughout the campus.

Public College Samana introduced a number of programmes to meet the students’ needs and their career choice. The institute owns eighteen regular courses that offer full time programmes to the students. These are BA, B.Com, BCA, B.Sc (Medical and Non-Medical), BBA, and B.Voc programmes in Food Processing and Engineering and Computer Graphics Designing. At postgraduate level, this college offers M.Sc InformationTechnology Lateral Entry, M.A in Punjabi, History, English and M.Com The college also offers some professional diploma courses such as PGDCA and PGD in Dress Designing and Tailoring. The total approved intake for the current programmes are one thousand, three hundred and seventy students, however, the BA programme has the most number of seats at six hundred.

Admission procedure at Public College, Samana, is kept on simple as possible for students for easy understanding. The college has noted that the admission to any programme in the college is largely based on merit. For some courses as well as for some postgraduate have entrance examination. The college also has limited provisions for an applicant to join at a different level in some programmes for instance the M.Sc Information Technology.
