Puratchi Thalaivar Dr.M.G.R.College of Education a self financing institution was started in the year 2006 located at Ramanathapuram, Tamilnadu. This co-educational institution is the affiliated college under reorganisation by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Located in a five acres, the college provides two degrees and there are only two courses available in total. The institute has 111 students in total and 9 faculty members for now.

Accommodation There are two different areas for boys and girls respectively, The Hostels are comfortable with all the basic amenities like purified water for drinking. A number of desks, good reading lamps, comfortable chairs, bookshelves, a good collection of reference books, periodicals, and newspapers blend together to provide the library as a knowledge center for the students and the faculty members. The college boasts of various laboratory facilities such as the Biological, Physical Science, Computer, Language and Educational technology laboratories is availed to the students for practical session.

As a constituent college of the IMT, Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. MGR College of Education now offers the following two full time courses in the field of education. The B.Ed programme has a sanction for 100 students and the D.El.Ed programme has a sanction for 50 students. Both programmes are to take two years, and will equip future educators with required knowledge and skills.

Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. MGR College of Education Admission is done based on marks secured by the students in the qualifying examination and entrance test. For the B.Ed programme admissions are granted as per the policy of the state/U.T. Administration and University. Likewise the selection criteria for D.EL.ED programme is as per the norms and guidelines framed state government/UT Administration.
