RDC Chennai: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

Ragas Dental College and Hospital Chennai or RDC Chennai is a one of the reputed and well-known dental college established in 1988. Situated in Uthandi, Tamil Nadu, this affiliated college comprises 5.34 acres of area and is recognised by the Dental Council of India (DCI). RDC Chennai now spreads 13 courses distributed in four different degree levels, a total student intake of 489 and 152 faculties. The college boasts a diverse student body with a 1:3: male to female ratio with students coming from different states : 2% of undergraduate and 4% of postgraduate students.

Infrastructural services that RDC Chennai offers are intended to support the academic activities of the students. Accommodation is fulfilled with comfortable hostels for boys and girls accordingly. A good library is a source of information both to the students and the faculty in the institution. The college has given emphasis on the issue of health since it has a medical facility to offer first aid. For recreation purposes or physical exercise, sports facilities have also been provided to candidates on the campus. It also has modern IT facility to foster digitised learning the institution also has modern facilities such as IT. There is also a cafeteria that serves the students and the staff a requirement of dietary necessities and there is an auditorium that plays host to different events such as seminars. 

The college offers a total of 13 courses. Following programmes are taught in college, one undergraduate course- BDS, nine postgraduate courses – MDS, one doctoral course – Ph.D. and two diplomas. All the programmes are on a full-time basis; BDS programme takes 5 years while MDS programmes take 3 years. The number of approved intake for BDS programme is one hundred, while, the specialisations in MDS programmes ranging from two to eight seats each specialisation. The courses include MDS in Peridonotology, Oral Medicine and Radiology, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Public Health Dentistry, Diploma in Dental Hygiene, and so on. 

RDC Chennai admissions to its programmes are available through the national level entrance tests. For admission to BDS programme, one must have passed the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET-UG. In the case of MDS programmes, the aspirants will have to qualify the NEET MDS exam. The college enforces the merit system whereby the deserving students get to secure themselves places in the college. The amenities furnished by RDC Chennai with regard to scholarship to facilitate the students in their academic adventures are worth mentioning.
