The Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Law is located in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, India, established in the year 1992. It is an affiliated college, about 30 years old, and stands located along the Pithapuram-Kakinada Road on Ramana Highway in Kakinada. The institute is approved by the Bar Council of India. These ensure that the curriculum is crafted in the best way for legal education.
The institute provides many facilities that enhance the learning experience. The library is a storehouse of legal literature and resource materials and well equipped with all the facilities. The library is important to help students meet their research and study needs for copies of a wide and detailed set of legal texts, journals, and digital resources. The institute also has a moot court, another important facility for an aspiring lawyer. Such a simulated courtroom environment will help students develop advocacy skills, practice legal arguments, and gain practical exposure in a realistic setting in the journey of connecting gaps between theoretical knowledge and real-world legal practice.
At Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Law, two full-time programmes in law accommodate different educational and career trajectories. This entails a 3-year LLB program and a 5-year integrated BA LLB program provided at the institute. Both are full-time courses on campus, designed to provide a complete grounding in legal principles and practices. Created for graduates with an ambition to step into a law career path, the LLB course charges an annual fee of ₹57,500, and the BA LLB is an over-lapping and extensive course between arts and law, designed for those who have cleared their 12th-grade examination, priced at ₹60,000.

The major part of the admission to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Law is based on the Andhra Pradesh Law Common Entrance Test (AP LAWCET). This is a test that is normally taken by aspirants from the state interested in pursuing a study in law. The students are expected to closely follow the AP LAWCET test dates and accordingly prepare themselves for appearing in the test. At the same time, the importance of this examination being a state-level entrance apart from ensuring fairness and a competitive atmosphere in the admission process, also allows students' examination-seeking admissions from all districts of Andhra Pradesh and even beyond that.
