Rao Mohar Singh College of Education, Gurgaon, was initiated in the year 1974 as one of the premier institutes for shaping the future of education. This co-educational college has sprawling surroundings on 4 acres of land and is an affiliated college with the approval of the National Council for Teacher Education, thereby ensuring quality standards in teacher education. The institute offers two specialisations with a total enrolment of 417 students, having a faculty strength of 14 learned teachers.
Rao Mohar Singh College of Education has several modern facilities in order to enrich the learning process of its students. In the core of academic facilities lies a semi-automated library with about 7,000 books, along with a good collection of journals, periodicals, and newspapers. A well-equipped IT infrastructure, including a computer laboratory with multimedia facilities and internet access, Holistic development of students is taken care of through facilities such as indoor games in the gymnasium, outdoor sports amenities, and an auditorium for the practice of cultural and seminar events. The health and safety aspects are taken care of through a dedicated health centre with first-aid facilities, and a college bus service is provided to ensure easy transportation to students.
Two such core teacher training programs are specifically undertaken at Rao Mohar Singh College of Education: the B.Ed. and D.El.Ed. Both of these are full-time courses for two years. The B.Ed. course offers 100 seats, and the D.El.Ed. offers an intake of 50 students. Admission to Rao Mohar Singh College of Education is merit-based, with the consideration of marks obtained in the qualifying examinations and/or entrance tests. In the case of a B.Ed. program, admission shall be made in accordance with the policy prescribed by the state government, UT administration, or the affiliated university from time to time. For the D.El.Ed. program, there will also be an entailing admission process according to the guidelines issued by the state government or UT administration.
